During the hottest season of the year, it can be hard to force yourself to stay active — your usual daily or weekly activities suddenly just seem less appealing. You don’t really want to spend time outdoors because it’s just so hot, but at the same time, it’s so nice outside that it’s a shame to spend your time indoors.
Luckily, there are some activities that can be absolutely perfect for summer and will guarantee you enjoy your time in the sun.
Swimming
There’s nothing quite like swimming during summer! It’s the absolute best for a refresh during hot weather and it’s an easy way to exercise your entire body — so put swimming at the top of your summer bucket list! You can go to the sea if you’re close to it, or planning a vacation. In case you have any nearby rivers or lakes that are safe to swim in, why not take a day trip? Even if none of these options are viable for you, hopefully, your town (or a town close to it!) has a pool you could visit for some cool relaxation. Whichever option you take, swimming is never a bad idea and if you have kids, they’ll be absolutely thrilled about your little trip.
Yoga
Luckily, there are so many different kinds of yoga that you’ll have no trouble finding one that is not hard on the body during hot weather. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could always do a more intensive yoga session and do it… outside — you might just get a taste of that hot yoga vibe. If you haven’t tried yoga already, now is the perfect time! You can find plenty of useful videos in our Bellabeat app, and make sure to get a supportive yoga mat.
Field trip or picnic
Taking a field trip is fun whether you’re doing it alone, or with others — especially during hot summer days, a change of scenery can do a lot of good to lift the mood. If you’re not in a position to take a trip, or need to stay in your town for any reason, you can always go to a picnic. Pack a nice healthy basket, or backpack, dig out a blanket or larger piece of cloth and search your town for the perfect picnic spot. Don’t forget to take a frisbee, or even some water balloons, and prepare to have some summer fun in the sun!
Rafting, Kayaking, or Fishing
There’s nothing quite like getting a watery refresh, which is definitely a by-product of going rafting! Check out if there are any rafting opportunities or agencies that organize rafting trips, in your area. The same goes for kayaking! If you’ve never tried either it will also make for a fun summer memory and an experience you can (excitedly) share with others. Of course, if you’re not fond of being in a small boat, going down a river… well, no shame in that! Not every activity will be good for everyone. You can always try a less stimulating activity such as fishing — in the end, you might even catch yourself a delicious dinner.
Explore a new city, or hidden corners of your city
In case you live in a big city, you might not have seen all of it yet, so take this chance, when it’s less crowded due to people taking vacations, to explore the unexplored parts of your city. Alternatively, you can also go to a nearby village or town and explore that as well. It’s a fun activity you can do alone, with a partner or with the entire family! In case you’re in need of some extra adventure, you can always come up with a treasure hunt and hide clues around your town. Or if you don’t want to do the hiding, but you’d love to do the scavenger hunting, make sure you check out Geocaching in your city!
These are our top picks for fun summer activities! We hope you’ll try some out and make some amazing memories.
